Katowice is changing before our eyes – with more and more greenery and spaces for relaxation. Architect Paweł Bulski, Technical Manager at OKAM, and Iwona Gumienna, Project Manager / Supervision Inspector at OKAM, discussed this, among other things, during a workshop on financing green infrastructure, held on December 12, 2025.
In a small group of representatives from businesses, design studios, NGOs, and municipal entities, the workshop focused on how to plan, implement, and maintain urban greenery, including rain gardens, bioswales, green bus stops, and new plantings.
The workshop was organized by the Katowice Municipal Laboratory as part of the EU UPSURGE project and provided insights into green infrastructure from the perspective of practical models of cooperation and financing between various entities.
This is a topic of paramount importance to us. Greenery plays a crucial role in every project we undertake. INSPIRE in the Three Ponds Valley is a prime example of this. Carefully designed courtyards, plantings, and adjacent green areas allow residents to connect with nature every day, and the development fits perfectly into the urban space.
